If you are looking for an LGTBQ-friendly wedding venue near Syracuse, NY, we want to share an amazing option. Windridge Estate is a destination wedding venue and home of the three-day wedding weekend. The owners and staff of Windridge Estate believe that all love is beautiful, and their goal is to make every couple feel welcome and have the wedding of their dreams.
This past fall, Windridge Estate hosted Kristyn and Sarah’s love story wedding, but this wasn’t actually their first “wedding”. The prior year, they were the models for a mock wedding that was staged for a wedding styled shoot at Windridge Estate. This allowed them to practice getting married and being in front of the camera. If they look particularly relaxed in their wedding images, it just might be because of all the extra practice they had during the Love is Love Styled Shoot.
Kristyn and Sarah live in New York City, but both grew up in the beautiful area of upstate New York where the Windridge Estate wedding venue is located, so coming back to this countryside hits home with them. As expected, their life experiences were woven throughout the entire event, from the romantic ceremony to the hip vibe of the reception.

What do you wear to an elegant farm wedding?
In beautiful Cazenovia, NY you wear whatever you want, because as the country meets the elegance of the Windridge Estate, all types of attire fit in perfectly. Pastel suits, a full-length formal, and a white anthurium bouquet all fit in perfectly for this couple as they enjoyed their outdoor ceremony and then danced the night away in a beautiful red barn.
Where does the wedding party get ready?
The Farmer Cottage is a beautiful white farmhouse with overnight accommodations for ten and is typically used by the wedding party. Kristyn took advantage of the pristine white walls as a backdrop for all of her “getting ready” photography.
What types of photo opportunities are there at Windridge Estate?
At many wedding venues, finding the ideal backdrop for post-ceremony pictures can be a challenge, but not at Windridge Estate. Your biggest decision will be deciding among all of the many photo opportunity spots that are available. No matter where you walk on this 80-acre property, or which way you turn, there is always a skyline or a backdrop that will grab your attention and make you want to hug and kiss for the camera, right there! Time it right, and you can create a portrait-ready image that includes a remarkable sunset.
How do you decorate for a barn venue wedding reception?
The Red Barn, the largest of the venues at the expansive Windridge Estate, is a blank canvas that can be beautifully decorated to match the dreams of the wedding couple. With white tablecloths, artistic wooden chairs, flowers, candles, and loads of table decor and accents, Kristyn and Sarah’s reception was beyond perfect! It was a gorgeous day, and the guests also enjoyed lounging in the spacious outdoor space.
Where should you place your wedding cake at the reception?
The Red Barn at Windridge Estate offers several options for placement of your cake and dessert table. Kristyn and Sarah chose an area that overlooks the patio, and their wedding cake design stood out against the rustic backdrop. The two-tier cake featured delicate sugar artistry and was uncomplicated in design, yet striking in every way. This masterpiece was deliciously baked and designed by The Love Bean and most definitely depicted the sweetness of the couple and their beautiful wedding.
Located in beautiful Central New York, just east of the Finger Lakes region, the Windridge Estate wedding venue is only a short drive away from the quaint and charming village of Cazenovia. Featuring stunning views of rolling hills and lakes, you can celebrate your wedding outdoors, in the open air. You have access to three buildings to use and make your own for the weekend. The newest building is a covered outdoor pavilion called The Belvedere which can be used for a ceremony, reception, or an extra area for your guests to enjoy.
